My Five Year Old First Abstract Painting
My daughter loves art. When she was two, she received a drawing board as a gift and has been drawing ever since. Every morning when she gets up, the first thing she does is grab her board and draw while watching cartoon. It has become a ritual, but she enjoys it and I love seeing where her imagination takes her.
One of her favorite things to draw are princesses and castles. I guess it's fitting since her name is Jasmine just like Disney's Princess Jasmine. But lately, she has been inspired to paint having seen me work on some of my abstract paintings. She loves experimenting with colors and mixing them together to create colors all by herself such as pink. Her favorite color. Recently, she mixed the color teal all on her own and became very excited at what she accomplished. As a parent, it's wonderful to see your child learning new things and sharing our love of art together.
She enjoys painting geometric shapes and creating her own abstract masterpiece. It's tough though when we don't have a personal workspace just for art, but for now we make due working in the kitchen.
